WATCH: When Israel Adesanya shocked the internet after holiday with Kim Kardashian look-alike
In the UFC, Israel Adesanya is one of the most popular fighters on the roster. Recently, his brutal KO victory over long-time rival Alex Pereira was a career highlight for ‘The Last Stylebender.’ However, a victory over the Brazilian fighter was not something that Adesanya possessed throughout his career. At UFC 281, the New Zealand fighter lost via TKO to ‘Poatan’ following two losses from the same fighter in another kickboxing organization.
Alex Pereira was said to be the perfect contender for Israel Adesanya. Following the devastating loss at UFC 281, ‘Izzy’ posted a video that captured fans’ attention. The fighter appeared to be on a yacht with a Kim Kardashian look-alike, who was later identified to be Shana Evers, an Australian model. Despite the loss, Adesanya and Evers seemed to be having the time of their lives on the yacht.
“Take me back!” yelled Israel Adesanya in the video. Although fans speculated this to be a reference to his publicized break up with his previous girlfriend, ‘Izzy’ had not confirmed the allegations. He and his rumored girlfriend, Shana Evers, captured a video on the yacht that had gone viral following the loss. Fans took to troll ‘The Last Stylebender’ for his UFC 281 loss.
Despite the brutal loss, Israel Adesanya won via knockout at UFC 287. The fighter managed to redeem his losing streak against Brazilian fighter Alex Pereira. Although a trilogy fight in the UFC is rumored to be in the works, those remain speculations and had not been confirmed by the UFC.
Israel Adesanya’s mature attitude following his UFC 281 loss
UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya is one of the most technically gifted fighters there are. As mentioned, the fighter suffered a devastating loss against Alex Pereira at UFC 281. This caused fans to troll ‘Izzy’ for the loss he suffered that night. However, ‘The Last Stylebender’ had a mature attitude about the loss.
“It is what it is. I’m still here. I’ll give him [Alex Pereira] one thing, he knows how to recover. I felt like I was there,” said Israel Adesanya. He continued, “At the moment, yes. But, I trust my coaches and my manager when they said it was a good stoppage,” about the referee ending the fight early. “I’ll probably get the rematch. I’ll see what I wanna do next,” ended ‘The Last Stylebender.’
As expected, the rematch took place at UFC 287, and Israel delivered a powerful hook that dropped Pereira. Since the bout, ‘Izzy’ had spoken about losses not affecting him and the ability to come back much stronger.
