However, these setbacks were the major stepping stones as he entered the NCAA transfer portal. His transfer to BYU proved to be his rising star with groundbreaking stats: 40 passes for 805 yards and 6 touchdowns.

And moving swiftly in his career, Nacua made it to the 2023 NFL draft, selected in the fifth round and 177th overall pick. The 22-year-old rookie marked his professional debut last week with a warrior spirit, fighting for every Yard point he can with his formidable build of 6 feet 2 inches in height and 205 pounds.

Although Puca Nacua is from Utah, his origins can be traced back to West Samoa. Per the research, Puka Nacua is actually of Polynesian ethnicity.

“I got the nickname as an infant, and it kind of stuck. Even after I lost weight, everyone still called me Puka when I was growing up and in school.”

Puka’s maternal grandmother was said to have migrated from Polynesia, a group of islands in the Pacific Ocean. Contrary to popular belief, Nacua is not a Hawaiian since his grandmother moved from West Samoa to Utah with her only daughter.

The LA Rams wide receiver has just set a new record with 15 receptions in a single game– a new high for any rookie in NFL history. Despite the Rams’ loss, Nacua held his own with a colossal offense, hauling in 15 of his 20 targets against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

The rookie record was initially jointly held by Washington’s Roy Helu, New York Giants’ Saquon Barkley, and Pittsburgh’s Najee Harris. However, Nacua is not only the undefeated king, but he is the only rookie to reach a double-digit stat in receptions as he fought for the 17-yard catch in the fourth quarter.
