It's been a cool and soggy start to summer with June ending as the second wettest on record for Boise. Throughout the month, the Boise Airport picked up 3.27 inches of rain, nearly five times the normal amount for June. Normally, the Boise Airport average 0.69 inches of precipitation in June. The most precipitation that's ever been recorded at the airport in June is 3.41 inches, that record was set back in 1941, just one year after records began.

Average daytime temperatures have also been cooler than normal with our average high at 77.9 degrees for the month. That's 3.4 degrees cooler than our 'normal' 81.3 degrees for the month of June. Boise nearly tied a record low maximum temperature of just 59 degrees on June 29 with a high of 60 degrees, otherwise, no new record temperatures were set last month.

As we begin a new month, dry weather will return to the region under increasing southwest flow. Daytime highs are expected to slowly warm throughout the week under this pattern to near normal values by Friday. Over the Fourth of July Weekend, mostly sunny skies are expected with very warm temperatures. Daytime highs should approach 90 degrees Saturday and Sunday in the Treasure Valley.
