Matthew Tkachuk is an American professional ice hockey winger and the alternate captain of the Calgary Flames. He is widely known for his prolific plays in the National Hockey League. In 2015 Matthews Tkachuk signed with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League after his drafting as the 4th overall of the 2013 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection. He gave up his NCAA eligibility after his signup with the Knights. Matthews was placed 5th in the OHL scoring after getting 107 points and scoring a game-winning goal in OT for the Knights in the 2016 Memorial Cup Finals.

After witnessing his elite skills and attributes the Calgary Flames chose to sign him up on July 7th, 2016 in the NHL Entry Draft. The following year Matthews became the 2nd youngest Flames player in team history to reach 100 games against the Arizona Coyotes on November 30.

He recorded his first NHL hat trick against the Vegas Golden Knights in a 6-3 win and set a new career-high for points. On March 15, 2019, Matthews recorded his 100th career assist, becoming the 1st player to reach the milestone from his draft class.
