Joe Rogan or Genghis Khan? UFC commentator and Mongol marauder HILARIOUSLY compared for witnessing m
Joe Rogan is one of the most influential voices on the internet right now. When not commentating for the UFC, he brings on a wide plethora of guests onto his famed podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience.
Joe Rogan has had a prolific career associated with MMA. Before hopping onboard the UFC commentary team in 2002, he used to do backroom interviews with the fighters of the promotion. That is not to take away from his credentials – he has three black belts in MMA. Having now spent more than 20 years as a commentator, it is fair to say that Rogan has seen his share of fights. And what comes as a result of commentating on combat sport is witnessing the consequent injuries close at hand.
In episode #1695 of JRE, he sat down with comic Andrew Schulz and talked about this exact aspect of the job. For context, this was a month after the gnarly injury suffered by Conor McGregor. He said, “I have seen so many people get f***ed up…I am a little numb to people getting injured for sure…If you looked at all of human history, the amount of people that have seen people get the f**k beaten out of them, I am in the upper one percent in all of the time.”
To this, Schulz hilariously replied, “You and Genghis Khan!” The goofy comment draws an unlikely parallel between one of history’s most prolific marauders and Joe Rogan, who merely sits at the commentary desk and commentates the play-by-play events of UFC bouts.

Joe Rogan dishes on the brutal nature of leg breaks in combat sports
Leg injuries in combat sports are gruesome and extremely debilitating for athletes. As fighters draw their balance from their legs, as soon as a leg is injured, the fight either oscillates the other way or is stopped, in lieu of suitable defense.
A leg break, on the other hand, is as gnarly as it gets. Straight out of the left field, a leg break ends the fight right then and there. One need only jogs their memories back to either Conor McGregor’s shin splitting in half as he stepped back, or Anderson Silva falling to the ground with a snapped leg.

Joe Rogan, who possibly, has the best seats in the house, delves deeper into them. Speaking about it, he said, “We’ve seen it happen so many times… it happened with Chris Weidman, Anderson Silva. Now I’ve seen it multiple times.” According to Rogan, the first leg break he saw was Corey Hill‘s. On the podcast, the chilling soundbite of the commentator shouting “Stop the fight!” can be heard multiple times, before the referee eventually notices the injury and waves it off.
Conor McGregor split his shin in half a year back. He still has to announce his return. Although he is back in the gym practicing MMA, it’d be a fair assumption to say that he’s taking it gingerly, so as to avoid aggravating it further. The sheer patience in dealing with a leg injury is a testament to those who manage to come back from it stronger – Anderson Silva is the clear candidate here.
