It was just a few short years later in 2001 that Hathaway got her big break and went mainstream playing Mia Thermopolis in the Disney drama Princess Diaries. She was named the host of the 83rd Academy Awards in 2011, a year before winning an Oscar for her performance in Les Miserables. Hathaway has been showered with recognition for her film work. She’s been nominated by the Academy several times and has also won a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Golden Globe. Her acting chops have also made her a commercial success. She’s been consistently recognized as one of the highest earning actresses in Hollywood for years. Fast forward four years, Follieri was arrested for defrauding investors out of millions by posing as a Vatican’s point man on real estate investing. During the investigation, Hathaway’s personal journals were confiscated by the FBI. She was never charged with anything, but Follieri ended up being sentenced to close to five years in prison. Fortunately, she’s happily married now to actor Adam Schulman.
