Adventure Weather: McCall Winter Carnival 2020
Boise, ID (CBS2) — Every year thousands pack into the small town of McCall, Idaho for their annual Winter Carnival.
Just this year, over 60,000 people expected to make it up to McCall.
"We try to come every year, we love the statues, but really we love the vibe," explains Eagle resident, Robin Weidner. "Having the snow this year too, it's been magical."
At the McCall Winter Carnival, there is something for everyone.
Whether that be, sledding, shopping, sculptures, or filling up after the fun.
"These are hickory and molasses smoked turkey legs, 2lbs and they are awesome," says Aarin Tullis, owner of the Turkey Leg Stand.
With 30 snow sculptures, taking some weeks to build, we caught up with Derek Kennedy, owner of The Mill, and co-builder of this spectacular snowy sight.
"We got a late go on it, started a week and a half ago, about 4 to 5 hours a day, me and my brother Jeremiah Lowe did it together," Kennedy explains.
Kennedy says the pair worked through, snow, rain and even sleet to complete their masterpiece.
But the real test, can you tell who this famous children's movie character is?
"It's actually Falkore from the Neverending Story and it was more of a generational thing it was fun and we really love it," Kennedy explains. "Great childhood memories."
And with this years theme being "It's a kids world" you can tell that this event is fun for the whole family.
The McCall Winter Carnival continues through February 2nd, for a full schedule of events click HERE.
